Blue Pool
Most languages develop a word for “blue” last—because unlike red berries or yellow ochre, the blues that surround us, like sky and water, can’t be held in our hands. This event celebrated the rare delight of tangible blue.
On Mother’s Day, hikers exploring Oregon’s Tamolitch Blue Pool—a hidden, sapphire gem in the forest—discovered large blue eggs tucked along the trail. Inside were surprise invitations to a cliffside picnic overlooking the radiant water. There, guests enjoyed naturally blue foods and art inspired by butterflies, birds, and the shimmer of rare Pacific Northwest blues. A quiet moment of magic offered to those willing to look closer.
