Fungi Fae

Fungi Fae was a woodland gathering inspired by a dreamlike encounter with a Violet Cortinarius mushroom so vivid it felt like an Empress. From that moment bloomed a vision of mushroom fae, each with their own personality: regal, flirtatious, mischievous.

Alongside my friend Alessandra, we invited a group of magical women to embody these fungi spirits. Each guest received a riddle to reveal their mushroom identity, arriving in the Oregon woods costumed and ready to play. They were crowned upon arrival and we began with a connection ritual, tossing white thread between those who shared truths and quirks, weaving a living mycelial web between us.

The forest feast featured porcelain mushroom vessels, porcini shortbread, and violet cort elderberry gingerbread. The rain was ever-increasing, so we shielded the cookies as well as we could and were greeted with plates filled with water, until one guest lifted hers to her lips and called it the best thing she’d tasted all day. (I agreed.)

Later, warmed by the fire and wrapped in blankets at our cabin, we laughed like old friends.

The rain didn’t ruin it.
It completed it.
